Writers are forgetful,
but they remember everything.
They forget appointments and anniversaries,
but remember what you wore,
how you smelled,
on your first date…
They remember every story you’ve ever told them -
like ever,
but forget what you’ve just said.
They don’t remember to water the plants
or take out the trash,
but they don’t forget how
to make you laugh.
.
Writers are forgetful
because
they’re busy
remembering
the important things.

Singer, songwriter Taylor Simone recently released her latest project titled “Songs of the Front Yard.” We thought it fitting to take her to the backyard of her Columbia University dorm to capture her style and her essence.

Taylor recently launched a Indie GoGo campaign to fund a 2 day video shoot in Red Hook for the bonus track “Greedy” off of “Songs from the Front Yard.” Listen to Greedy below and checkout the indegogo campaign here.

"Black Entertainment Television’s ‘Video Soul’ and ‘Video LP’ was a refuge for African American artists because these shows were created after MTV refused to play their videos and showcase their talent.”

"But why isn’t there a white entertainment television" said people who don’t understand history.

i showed this to my brother in the coast guard and his only response was ”I was sailing with a captain who altered our course so we could get a better tv signal. The Yankees were playing.”

This was how the myth of Black criminality started, for the record. After the abolition of slavery, a lot of states made laws targeting Black people specifically, and then put them on chain gangs to get free labor from them.

Oh, and the US is still disproportionately incarcerating Black people and private prisons are making huge amounts off them.
